Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties
Anti-dumping and countervailing duties are EU trade defense measures against unfair trade practices. They can drastically increase import costs.
What is Dumping?
Dumping occurs when a manufacturer exports goods to the EU below normal value (typically the home market price). The EU can then impose anti-dumping duties to offset the price difference.
Current Anti-Dumping Measures
The EU currently has over 100 anti-dumping measures in force, including:
- Steel products from China, Russia, Ukraine
- Ceramic tiles from China
- Bicycles and e-bikes from China
- Solar panels from China
- Footwear from China and Vietnam
⚠️ Anti-dumping duties can be 20-50% or more – in addition to the normal duty rate!
